Safe Sex and the Condom

Safe Sex and the Condom

Condoms have been around for many years. The styles and supposed pleasures have changed and improved over the years and, if used correctly, will help prevent pregnancy and sexually transmissible diseases. They are very easy to obtain and are usually available everywhere you go.

If bought in single packages, it is best to purchase with the intent of using soon. Storing condoms in wallets is not the best environment in which to keep it but that is what most men do. Making condoms a regular part of your life style and purchasing them by the box is a better idea, leaving the condoms as they are and then storing them in a dresser drawer where it is cool and dry is the ideal conditions for shelf life. Before you store the box, make a mental note of the expiration date of the condoms. When condoms are expired or not stored properly, the risk of breakage increases dramatically and can be a very worrisome moment for both you and your partner.

The condom is designed for use on the penis. Do not put a condom on your tongue or that of your partners. If there is reason to feel that oral sex is not safe for one or the other, then forgo this until you have the proper check up completed for both you and your partner. There are reported cases of asphyxiation by using the condom in such a manner.

Follow the instructions on the packaging in regards to wearing the condom correctly. If seeing a video would help, there are plenty on the internet that are instructional and very specific in how to use a condom. There are a variety of condoms. Most come pre lubricated. If, however, yours does not you will want to have water based lubricant such as KY jelly on hand. Oil based lubricants can rupture a condom. If you or your partner has an allergy to latex, you should purchase condoms made of polyurethane. These, too, are readily available.

The condom package is perforated and, though secure, it is made to open easily. Do not rip with teeth or cut with scissors, as you may come into contact with the condom and not realize it. The penis should be erect as you roll the condom down with one hand, holding the penis at its base with the other hand. Unroll the condom completely onto the penis as to be certain no air is trapped which can cause breakage.

Feel free to re-apply lubrication, if needed, and to insure that the condom does not break. Have an open attitude about using condoms. They are not as boring as they once were. They come in all sorts of different colors and flavors, now. Some even glow in the dark! Allow your partner to put the condom on you. Both may find that is a huge turn on. Withdraw the penis as soon as you are finished, and remove carefully so as not to spill fluids.
